Perhaps the strangest variety show ever to air on television, the wildly popular MUPPET SHOW helped to spawn an entire series starring Jim Hensons crew of puppet comedians. Combining musical numbers with comedy, THE MUPPET SHOW centred on the efforts of Kermit the Frog and his team of performers to put on a weekly show, featuring both the onstage acts as well as the backstage problems. Each week a new guest star, among the most distinguished entertainers of the time, would appear to participate in some of the skits and assist Kermit in making order out of the backstage chaos. Although the humour of THE MUPPET SHOW was often more adult and occasionally risque than the later Muppet endeavours, it was still appropriate for every member of the family. SEASON ONE contains all 24 episodes of the programs first year (the 1976-77 television season).
